Default Some people make me sick
My kids have been playing youth football for the past three years. there is always a game, where things get hairy between the parents, coaches and refs during the game.

The team in the link below, the Sarasota Gators, we played them the season before last, down at Riverview High School, in Sarasota. Fights nearly broke out every play, even at the little 5 and 6 year olds flag football games and things only got worse as the day went on.

This time, they actually beat down a referree...this kind of stuff make me sick beyond belief...what kind of example are they trying to set for the kids!?!?!?!?!

This team is still playing under the MFFCC, which is the same conference that my kids team (Zephyrhills Bulldawgs) play in...thank goodness we dont play them...hopefully some coaches will be banned from the conference now.

That is ridiculous...repulsive! Violence has no place in sports, from PeeWee to pro. I hate seeing this, and it happens all too often in youth sports these days. This team and its coaches should be suspended for a minimum of one season. Their next offense should result in expulsion from the league...kids and coaches as far as I'm concerned.

I got very lucky quite a few years ago when my son was playing football at the local boys club and they needed an extra coach and I volunteered. I had such a GREAT time and gotta admit; I didn't see ANY of the antics from the parents. Kids were from 6-8 year olds!

That is sickening. I coached my grandson's flag football team last year. I still see the kids now and then and they run up to give me a hug and say Hi. They were the 5-7yrs old.

The parents that cause these disturbances are usally ones that never played or were never any good and they are knowitalls trying to relive their childhood thru their children, who are the ones who will suffer from the bad examples their parents are setting.I never made my kids do any thing if they wanted to try then i supported them if they quit i supported their decision,my oldest wanted to play football in high school he quit before the season started [did not like getting yelled at],my youngest wanted to join cub scouts so he joined i bought every thing he needed a month later he wanted to quit due to the adults being weird and too religious [holy rollers my family is not religious at all] so i supported him gave all the stuff to some less fortunate than i for their son. I beleve my wife and i have done a good job with our boys the way we raised them i don't beleve in pushing to reach a goal i have set for them, they must set their own goals it's our job to keep them focused.

we had the same thing going on in my daughters 6 and under soft ball league. there was a coach yelling at the top of his lungs at the girls on his team and the parents for them sat idly by. our girls were hesitant to play because of his attitude of yelling at his team every time our team did something good. so i walked to their dugout stood behind him and very quietly told him "if you yell at these little girls one more time, nothing will happen here but i will see you in the parking lot". he was quiet for the rest of that game and the next time we played them.

i really cant understand the fucked up frame of mind that would lead parents to be competitive at children's sports (or even watching professional sports for that matter) when all it does is damage the children. i agree with Lou 1000% and while i don't force them to participate i do support and encourage them to try their hardest at everything. because we all know the only true failure is the failure to try.
