I have my sensor in the servo port right where the dipstick tube meets the tranny. I read about 135 cruising, and around 155 towing my trailer full of lawn equipment.

If you don't have a ScanGuage2 then just get a Vac Guage for your 3rd one. That way you can monitor it and get better mileage.

I believe what you are thinking of is the AeroForce Gauge. That is pretty nice little unit that will fit in your pod pillar, but I was actually referring to the ScanGauge2, it does quite a bit more, but it can't be mounted in a pillar pod.

Just off the top of my head, the SG2 will display

Instaneous Mileage
Average Mileage
Gallons Per Hour
Voltage
Water Temp
MAP sensor
Intake Air Temp sensor
How many gallons left til empty
How many miles left til empty
MPH
RPM
Instantaneous Horsepower
And will read and clear diagnostic trouble codes.

It does quite a bit more than that and you can change the backlight color to match the factory gauges, the pod gauges, or the stereo. And you can move it from vehicle to vehicle.

I believe the aeroforce is quite a bit of money even compared to the SG2.

im thinking i might do the 3rd gauge as a vacuum, and then add the scan gauge to it and set it on top of the column. that is if i got the right one.

this it?

You got it brother, that sounds like a good plan! You will be able to monitor every single thing on your truck!

I had mine flush mounted in the dash where the cup holder was, but I actually bought the Mirror Mount kit for it so now my SG2 is mounted right below the mirror, right in the line of sight.

However, if I didn't have my Trans Temp gauge in a Column Pod, I would mount the SG2 on the column as well.

You will have fun with it Cory, its a cool gadget. Good luck man.

well then i guess i got a setup then. my question is with the vacuum gauge, how do i know if its getting me good milage?

also they have a windshield mount out now too.

do you have any pics of yours? i was actually thinking of doing the mirror mount myself.

was the included cable long enough, or did you have to buy the extension?

I had to buy the extension to mount it on the mirror, but all it is a CAT5 Ethernet cable, so if you needed an extension you could get it from Radio Shack for cheap.

I saw the windshield mounts as well, but in my opinion the mirror mounts are much cleaner and you can hide the cable better. Here are a few pics.
