Got some good and bad news...
Good: I'm keepin the ram.
Bad: (for you guys anyways) I'm probably gonna be buyin a duramax here soon. Im doubting my that my truck will be able get a decent mileage whilest towing our camper at 4800#s unloaded excluding the ~200 gallons of fresh water, as it presently struggles to tow our I believe 2100# 18' wellcraft bowrider. My stepdads truck (01 ram 1500 5.9L auto 4x4 4.10s and 295/75-17s) struggles when towing our camper, and though I like dodges, I also like a smooth ride that the chevy offers. And I would like something different than a dodge, though I'll still have my dodge, it will probably be takin off the road for a while to do some major overhaul work to it.

Ya, it wants to be a 6 cylinder...Cummins that is.
My name is Ram, and I wish I was a 24v cummins.

Good Luck. Pick the horse that can get the work done. I got a '98 Ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9L and my horse can pull down a house. I got the sport package with the heavy duty tranny and transfer case. I do maintenance and you gotta have the right tools for the job. Even if it is the BFH. LOL

Sounds a little like you are rationalizing wanting a chevy, I say go for it...

I personally hate the chevys from 2000 to present. They look nice but tend to just fall apart. I had an 03 yukon that was just pure junk. I am really impressed with the furds(I know, I know) as they have some awesome engine and trim options. I'm with daniel though, why not a cummins?

The price of a cummins is a bit more than a duramax, and I'd much rather not deal with anymore trans problems. I know the alis are weak but they can handle a bit more power over stock. And I'm lookin for a four door crew cab, the quad can is too small and the mega cab, IMHO is ugly and to bulky of a cab. But hey, at least I'll be at more shows, just gotta find me a flatbed trailer.

Lee, your truck is "top gun" but that sucker is big! I was at the dealer (my bad) and they were bringing in a Mega cab and when I left they were still bringing it in.....
