Default Need Help from a Charger Member
I have a friend with an '09 Charger base model who is wanting to put wheels and tires on her car. She is not a car person and has been ripped off by car places before and I am trying to help educate her a bit so this doesn't happen again. I cannot go with her to tire/wheel/car shops because she lives in Nebraska.

She has stock 17" wheels/tires on her car and wants aftermarket 20's. Is this possible with proper backspaced, offset and width wheels without other modifications (please remember I am a truck guy)? Also, just for her knowledge, what is the proper backspacing, offset and width for a 20" wheel on charger? I also need tire sizes to compliment all this info as well.

Thanks guys, I greatly appreciate your input.

Ohh man 20s no problem no mods, the tire size will depend on how wide the wheel is but it should be about 9-10" wide

I was running 20's with 275/40/20 on all 4 with stock suspension and had no problems. I am now lowered 2" with the same wheels and tires and still don't rub.

As for offset and such, I will have to check to see what mine are. I have the Viper replica wheels.

My wheels are stock 20's - running a 245/45 tire. I'd have to look as well for the offspacing and such as well. I'll take a look after dinner.

Most of the wheels from any LX model should work. Most of the wheels are 9" wide. That allows for rotation of the tires. Jimmy, Art, & Ross are definitely the guys to talk to.

bolt pattern - 5 x 115 - offset - 15-25 or 15-20... for RWD

AWD may be different

Yup the correct bolt pattern is: 5x115
The correct offset for RWD is +13 - +18
(You can find the offset on most wheels on the back "ETxx")

The recommended size tire for 20's is: 245x45x20. Many SRTs come with 245x20 on the front and 255x45 on the rear.
(As stated above 275x40x20 will also work ~ a little more rubber)
You can also use 295x40x20 on the rear with at least a 9" wheel.

AWDs have a larger offset, believe +35-+45

I have SRT Challenger and SRT Magnum wheels on two of my magnums and these require a 3mm spacer to clear properly. No problems at all with these; they are so small YOU will never see any difference.

BE AWARE: If you have the tire pressure monitoring systems, each year uses a different frequency and IF you use the wrong year you will get "wacky" readings on the monitoring system.... Ask ME how I know? LOL

If I can help anymore, just ask!

NOT SURE if you are aware of this but you can also use some FORD type wheels with a bolt pattern of 5x114.3. I have a set on Tee's DEMON car that were bought originally for our Ford Explorer and I did use a 3mm spacer on these too and have had NO problems in well over a year NOW. Like I stated just make sure you check the offset!
