All of our lines are underground I guess that doesn't matter when it actaully hits the house lol. My stuff is fixed I guess you can kill them with kindness for faster service. While my neighbors are constantly calling and cussing I just told them how I felt and they had some one here within a hour of talking to them, my neighbors are all scheduled for Monday.....suckers.

Our power lines are above ground, but the fiber that goes to our ONT is underground. We have a surge protector on our meter, that is supposed to protect the whole house, but we did get struck last year anyway. Fried 2 TV's, the panel on our ac unit in the attic, and a couple outlets. However, our houses wiring needed upgrading anyway, since it wasnt 3 wire, it was still the 2 wire stuff.

So, my uncle had the whole house rewired and the AC panel replaced. We also have insurance on all our electronics, even the remotes through Verizon that we pay $19 a month for. It's pretty good stuff...they already replaced a cordless phone through the plan for us with $0 deductible and if our big screen takes a shit on us it is only a $50 deductible.

A side note on surge suppression/protection....even when properly grounded, it's still not a 100% lightning-proof. Lightning is gonna do what it's gonna do, no matter what.

Yep, lighting is a beast. I lost a 3 ton AC unit to a strike.
