All you peeps with Verizon issues...are you dealing with actual Verizon stores or certified Verizon retailers (small stores, kiosks in mall, etc)? One of the reasons I ask is because I haven't heard many complaints about Verizon, and I haven't had any issues with them. Matter of fact, as of right now I can't ever see myself switching to anyone else. The other reason is that Verizon customer service (611 on phone, I believe) told me to only use actual Verizon stores and not certified Verizon retailers (not sure if that's actually what they called them, but it was something similar).

It's the customer service that I dealt with. They're the ones that sent me the new phone to. The store here gave me a free screen protecter. I like Verizon to and I would have never expected that kind of crap to come from them

What is does, it is fiber from the street to a large box called an ONT, where it goes from fiber to normal cable....we have had to replace our damn ONT three times...once because it was victim of a lightning strike that also killed the wiring in our house and twice more because moisture was getting under the seal on the lid.

That is correct. And the best thing about fiber, it's not suspect to lightning like traditional wiring, coax, etc. The reason your inside wiring was damaged when lightning hit the box was because of the inside wiring's conducive properties, like any metal. If it were fiber too, it wouldn't have happened.

My issues with Verizon goes back a few years. I had a cell phone with them and went with another service provider. I terminated my Verizon service and they kept sending me bills, this went on for three months. So finally I sat down and talked with a manager and found that when my area code was changed they actually opened a second account using my new area code. I had cancelled my service to my current account but the second one stayed active. So I asked them, why hadn'i been getting two account billing's from when the change was initially made. No answer. In fustration I said "you know you guys are worst then AOL about letting go". There was a pause and the manager said, you know I have been trying to terminate my AOL account for a couple of months and they just won't do it. Then she simply said I'll take care of this for you and that was the last I dealt with them.

Which also prompted us to find out that our house needed to be totally rewired as it didnt meet code...all the outlets were still the old style two prong outlets...we had to have a disconnet put in at the water heater also, cause having the breaker in the breaker panel alone didnt meet coed for some reason....it was a damn mess after it was all said and done...thats what we get for having a 100 year old house.
