I have an acquaintance that is tempting me with a first-gen Durango for a trade for my car. Any thing I should look for to disqualify it? Daniel wants me to walk away, but I haven't seen too much hate for it in general.

Current knowledge of the Durango:

White with 144k, V8 (not sure which one) new tires, exhaust and intake. That's about it though.

Give me a hand, guys, let me know what you think!

I may be getting a chance to look at it sometime later today. I know it is the person's daily driver, and it runs great.

Prolly a 318 which there are certain fixes for with the way they run. At 144k your looking looking at a good amount of parts replacing just for piece of mind. Other than that I haven't heard anything bad about them.

on tapatalk from my GS3....

Hopefully, the owner has the maintenance records for it, but I can do a good amount of wrenching on my own, as well as having a decent mechanic friend for the things I can't do. Decisions, decisions lol

pass. Your in Florida. No need for a durango. What year? There is 3 V8's that cam with the dingo, 4.7, 5.2, and 5.9. There are some prone items that need to be checked. Ball joints, 4.7 motor sludging, wheel bearings, front rotors were a few issues.

Alex i was considering one when my dually was totaled and LB377 is correct on all points the worst problem is the sludging and the intake plenum gasket, run a search on complaints for the year you are looking at and make an educated decision. I like them but i wanted a pickup more.

I honestly don't know the year, just that it's first gen. In all honesty, every car, make and model has issues, it's just a matter of how much you are willing TL put up with. I'm certain my next car will be a Mopar, most likely an LX, like a Charger or maybe a 300. I would really like a Pursuit. I've had this car for almost eight years, and it's been very good to me, abuse by myself and the Broward County SO notwithstanding. I intend to keep it till the wheels fall off, or I have a great deal come along, since it simply isn'tworth all that much for private party sales. I'm pretty good at judging conditions of cars, and haven't been burned yet. Thanks to all for your input!
