What I did to my Mopar today

This seems to be a popular thread on other forums, so let's see how it does here. Washed it or put gas in it or a whole new motor. Or, as the case with my C, sat in the driveway quietly all weekend.

I'll start it off - The Ram took us on a trip to "Cruisin' Mopars of Jacksonville" Show. This was their seventh event. The weather was near-perfect. Great fun and fine folks.

My Jeep has been getting loaded with them, but I've been washing them off about daily and keeping the front waxed. Just keeping the truck parked so I only have to worry about washing them off one vehicle. just finished washing and waxing my girl, 3.5 hrs and the exterior is fully detailed, i may buy some polish and polish it up more but she's gleaming, now the interior needs done tomorrow prolly take me 30 minutes tops the way i keep it clean, never let it get to dirty anyway....shes all prepped for new wheels boy i cant wait new pics so soon.....:)

Changed the oil in the C @ 52,301.

In a contribution to other threads on other forums, apparently about 1/2 a quart is retained in the engine after draining. I drained the oil when it was d@mned hot (after a forty-mile drive) :eek: I filled (+/-) the filter before putting it on, put in five quarts of Pennzoil's best dino-oil and backed 'er off the ramps. I let it settle for a few minutes and checked the stick. It was just below the bottom of the "safe" mark, so I added a pinch over a quart. Right on the "max" line! Hee, hee. That was 6 1/2 quarts total.

re-tuned the truck with a new tune for the trans, its shifting so nice will update more on the schedule later in the week as i get to drive it more with this one....thanks go out to scott a s/c beta tester and great guy, who hopefully will be becoming a member here soon.....

Over the weekend went up and spent a couple of days in the Blueridge Mtns and then droe back and installed my Recon smoked cab lights and got the tails and 3rd tinted. Going to be a busy week working on the Ram and even more so over the next couple of months.

Well I installed the 4" 4-3200 Lumen Rigid Industries lights in the rear for my reverse lights.

I dont know if you know or every heard of Rigid Industries, but Jay can vouch that these are the brightest lights on the planet...lol

So now I have a 10" 3200 Lumen light bar in the front and 2 - 4" ones in the rear...

My Ram took me to Lowe's twice today. We rescued two "puppies" from a Georgia highway last spring and they've learned they can easily jump the four-foot part of our fence. So, today my daughter and I built up part of that four-foot fence to an eight-footer. Hopefully, they'll get the message that it's a dangerous world out there and they should stay inside the fence. Hope so - they've become sweet, good-natured girls without a mean bone in them. We'd hate it if something happened to them.

Finally put a bunch of things in that have been sitting around, got a triple gauge pod with the gauges in and a 10 gallon air tank with twin compressors in the bed of the truck and running all stinger wiring.

Plasti Dipped my side steps, bumpers, and grille today to get an idea of whether or not I want to get them painted or swap some of the pieces out for black ones from LMC. If I do decide to go black the badges will also be painted and going to black tips.

Put the Ram back into semi-retirement. My Speed 3 is fixed, so the Ram goes back to truck-duty and taking me to work on Fridays.

well it wouldnt idle for ****, and acted like it had a dead battery, took it to auto zone and had a friend test the alt. and starter in the truck failed the alt. test pulled it, bench tested 5x PASSED. got a new belt put it back together PASSED the in vehicle test still idled poorly, starter still failed, decided to pull the bat. termials and inside they were dirty as hell though outside were clean, cleaned em up, and bam starts and runs perfectly now. (knocks on wood) also put a optima yellow top in as well. =) such a great end to a ****ty day.

i do feel guilty. but the tahoe is a whole nother world. first class all the way, push a button tailgate folds up and closes, open the doors and the nerf bars slide out, heated seats navi sun roof. i did have to drive my truck when i got back home to say i was sorry. i did a few 1/4mile runs and was dissapointed. i was a little hesitant and kept spinning off the tree. i was hitting in the 15.5s, i thought i would do better. but i guess i dont really have a whole lot of performance right now. if i could get it too high 13's i would be happy

Just repaired what I thought was a blown brake light bulb..but it is actually a loose socket...cleaned my dash...glued back up some saggy parts of my headliner until I van afford to get an ABS one...after lunch I plan to loosen my rear bumper bolts and straighten the bumper.

For yesturday: Used it like a truck. Went to work, left early hooked up the crash a rama car and trailer towed it there with 3 of my buddies and a loaded bed. Got to use 4hi finally again to help get everything through the mud. No problem thanks to my cummins and brand new tires. Had a blast also.

2002 140k+ on it and its just now starting to wear on me been a great car really needed reg mait. i.e. brakes, tires, oil, starter and rad. other than reg shit like that its really been okay, the window motor took a dump....itll get us another yr maybe less when we trade it in....

Well, had another booboo with the Ram...drove it around town a few times after we put the new alternator on...ran like a dream...drove it up to get our Christmas tree...ran like a dream...parked it in the parking space at the tree farm...went to move it to wait for our tree, started like a dream...turned it off and went to crank it back up...no go....

Jumped it off...ran like a dream all the way home with the headlights on...nearly 20 miles...got to the inlaws house to drop off their tree and it wouldnt start up again...

Took the battery out and got it tested...it only tested at 10.25 volts (?) and the tster computer was flashing bad battery replace now!!!....lol....anyways, I bet that bad battery burned up my old alternator...

Like i said i've learned from the same mistakes, now i change both even if the batt is not that old. When i change antifreeze i change the thermostat it never fails to stick closed a day or two after you change antifreeze.

I did NOT do this today; about a week ago, just haven't had a chance to post it up. It is the brace underneath, just past the transmission; not sure what it's there for but only had 1/4" of clearance between it and my tailpipes; looks as though it could possibily hit the pipes but NO marks on 'em. However it was full of gravel, guess it could have made noise; never noticed though.

Anyhow replace it with this powdercoated one, I like a LOT BETTER! And I went from 1/4" clearance to 3/4" clearance.

I didn't do anything today, but I've been a modding fool here lately. I just installed some interior panel from an 08 charger (went from gray to black), finally got rid of the hood prop and added shocks, got my blastin bobs on order, got my BT catch can on order, and working on a few more items...

I actually measured everything BEFORE and AFTER install, talked about pipe clearance and it measured the same from the ground up; just looks a lot lower, see the picture of the gravel in the one and see how thick it is! Gotta admit it looks lower, think just because all the new clearance from the pipes.

Tried it on the SRT first, HOWEVER the SRT had more clearance between the exhaust and the stock bracket than the R/T did so I used in on my R/T ~ seemed to make sense to me.

Had to readjust my rear brakes took it for a ride this morning and they got rather warm and stinky adjusted them a little too tight,reajusted test drove it it's better will see tomorrow on the drive to work.

Steering hose clamps and a smidge of ATF+4. Sure hope it's just the hoses. Wiped down the rack with Simple Green. I'll check it in a month or so to see if there's any new fluid.

dude seriously it is soooo easy. awedaniel and marx from rf have also done it. spend the extra 15.00 and get the hp bulbs it is worth it. better angle spread more output and less hot spotting...they even have less draw. i bought the blue on top and i will be replacing with the blue on bottom

if you dont have dual climate control the only pita will be the headlight switch that will require a little soldering.. do it do it. and i still have the file to change to overhead and gear selector and mileage display.

ya, i had been dizzy and nauseous all day friday, and threw up friday night, i ended up leaving work at 1am and went to the ER. at first my bp was 141/78 which is high for me (120/70 is my norm) and then when i got into a room like 15 mins later, they took it again, and it was like 98/54, they started an IV drip, gave me something for the nausea, and some antivert for my dizziness, then they gave me some ativan through the IV to help calm me down a bit, they took blood and urine, then they did a orthostatic test to see if it could be a possible bp issue, sitting down my bp was 116/68, standing it was 126/74, and laying down it was 111/60.

they diagnosed it as vertigo, but i think something else is going on, the dr. ive been goin to since my wreck did a test for vertigo, and they said i didnt have it, and it cant be an inner ear infection because i have no fever.

I'll revive this ole thread a little. Not so much as what I did today but more this last 6 days. I finally removed the silver pinstripe that I should have done when I removed the orange one a year ago:doh2:. Got my compressor and new tank all hooked back up, a month and a half without it was enough. Fixed a few little odd and ends, washed it for the first time in 2 months, and got some nifty LED 4ft T8 lamps( and they run on 12v so I got some gears meshing in my noodle. Pics to come eventually).

Rewired my headlites last sunday so they are brighter and i receved my new electronic voltage regulator yesterday installed it and i now have brighter lites no flicker/dimming at idle and under throttle. I'm so pleased i can actually see at night now [i hope] we'll see tonight on the way home from checkers.

Then taking it out for a test drive, the only people with balls enough to race were two stoners in a VW beetle! (Guess who won that one!)

Changed the oil in Ruby...this time went to a MOPAR filter, rather than the Wix/NAPA Gold and switched to Castrol GTX High Mileage oil from Regular Castrol GTX...washed her up.

The 3500 died yesterday finally got it started and home changed the fuel filter and oil got her runnin again hopefully i fixed her,parts are not cheap for these diesel trucks,in tank fuel pump assy 200,transfer pump 150,injector pump 900-2000 plus the labor so far i'm ok we'll see tomorrow.

When I got home I told Tee, I gotta go outside and mess with something as the BAD weather is headed for here all weekend and wanted to do a mini mod to my Mag R/T BLUE. Then when I opened the garage door ~ GEESH... I had TONS of stuff out, tools everywhere, speakers, speaker boxes, TONS of wires, all my plastic trays of connectors, my 12V power supply ~ we were checking lights for the interior of our cars, WAX and cleaning supplies, my air compressor, tons of cans of paint and much more.....AND I KNEW I had to get my SRT Magnum (SHADOW) BACK into the garage before the RAIN!

Finally got everything put back up ~ took me OVER two hours!

Then I pulled the front and rear "Rams head" emblems off my BLUE R/T and couldn't decide which color to paint the back ground ~ LUCKILY I had TWO sets, so I painted one set background YELLOW and one set BLUE.
Because the yellow dried first, I decided to put that one in the grille and I really like the way it looks..... BUT, I hope it does NOT clash with the RED R/T emblem I installed earlier. I'm waiting for the LARGE rear hatch Rams Head insert to dry and install that one ~ looks like it might be a day or two now because of the bad weather coming. AND.... I still have to put the BLUE set together to see how that looks.

About a week ago when we had the wheels off and primered I had bought some yellow paint ~ Last can they had ~ and the shame of it; must have been an old can as the darn thing just kinds spurted the paint out and really "watery"... had to take it back.... but I couldn't waint to paint 'em so I just used the same type paint but ONLY had GOLD, so that's what they are now. BUT NOT that I have some good yellow, wanna pull the wheels again and YEAH paint 'em YELLOW like I had originally planned! I think that'll be sharp!

Well yesterday I had painted the REAR emblem background Yellow and was waiting for it to dry BEFORE snapping back together. I also painted one each extra FRONT & REAR emblem in BLUE to see how I liked that and have some extras as well. Think the BLUE is very cool but does NOT stand out like the yellow ones.

I also added my LARGER hemi badge to the rear hatch today. WOW, before I could get time to take a picture YOU can already see pollen settling in on the emblem.

Snagged 5 cans of flat black spray paint from work and painted my frame and rear wheel wells...wiped down what I could reach on my engine with a microfiber...sprayed white lithium grease on my door hinges and striker latch thingy...

Changed EVERY vacuum line I could get my hands on trying to chase down the cause of the recurring P0441 CEL I've got.
Pulled the pcv hose off the intake and went to pull it off the valve and it broke. Finally got the pcv valve out and this is what I found

Adam, you sure gotter' looking good! Today was another day of just sorting stuff in the garage, while I was out there had to replace the glass lens in my shop work lights... tipped the tripod over and smashed the lens; luckily I had an older one with broken handles etc so I swapped 'em out.

NOW I have been working on my older stereo amp.... looking for some screws for the connectors... somehow they got lost in the shuffle.

I did NOT do anything to mine today; however when I showed my daughter Heather the emblems I painted and told her I wanted to paint the letters in some of my HEMI badges; she said she'd LOVE to do it for something to do late at night while she was sitting around, so I got the paint, brushes and emblems out and let her take them home. Well, I decided to go ahead and get the cam installed. If I keep waiting, nothing will get done. Got the front of the engine pulled off and the coils removed from the valve covers. So tomorrow I'll change the springs and install the cam and start buttoning it up. I work until I get tired and then go have a beer. I made one mistake that pisses me off. When I went to removed the AC compressor, after I removed the bolts it didn't want to move. I saw the steel sleeves and figured it was just frozen. Wrong, there is another bolt in back that I didn't see, took my bar to it and broke the seal on the housing. Compressor is trashed. It isn't a big deal, but just needless to have broken it. This is my first cam install, so I know there is a learning curve. Still pissed me off.

I have gotten this same thing done to me a few time over the last couple of days and at first I thought maybe something on the front end was wrong but nope everything is in order. Whilst out driving I'll see FDO's and as we are passing I see them pointing and talking about my truck. I don't know if it's the hood, Hellas that are always on or what but it's a good feeling, like silent props.

Recieved the AC compressor yesterday (PCP on DT has good stuff). I'll install that today and find a shop to service the sytem.

Here is some information if anyone is interested installing an starter interrupt switch. The wire bundle from the ignition switch under the lower dash panel has a yellow wire. This is the wire that goes to the starter relay. If anyone wants to disable their starter all that is needed is to cut the yellow wire and install a hidden switch. Wala, engine won't crank even with the ignition switch popped.

Going to install a 139db air horn, it's relatively small. Going to place in the original horn location. I have one on my VTX and it'll make blue hair old ladies wet themselves at Walnut. Don't ask...

Got a car show this coming Saturday in Farmville. Need to start preparing Red for the show.

Mike, the horn is a Nautilus Stebel airhorn I believe it is a boat horn. 139db it is completly self contained about 5x5x3 in size. I fitted one under my gas tank on the VTX. I originally bought two, one for my bike and one for a friends truck. When I bought his truck I took it off to put on Red but haven't got around to it until now. I bought them online and had a coupon. Don't remember what I paid, but it wasn't a whole lot. I have pulled up behind dump trucks out in the country side and blew the horn and they damn near went in the ditch. Sucker's are loud.

I'm guessing at some point they become so loud you might be liable for physical assualt. Anyway got it installed along with the new AC pump. Threw another adjusted map into the PSC1. I spent yesterday working on some aggressive driving map and got the WOT A/F at 12.3. Idle is great and it feels strong all the up to my shift point. She's very close to being as well mannered as a stocker except with a lope. I'm happy with the results.
