Cleaned the piss out of the interior this afternoon. Organized all the crap I keep inside with me. I really need a tool box or something.
Called around and made an appointment for next week to get some much needed tint slapped on her

why not tint it yourself? its super easy with some basic tools and some time.

I broke the AC compressor when I did the cam install and got the replacement from PCP the other day. Called my local shop which has not given me very good prices recently. And got a estimate and an appointment. I have spent some pretty good money with these guys and they have decided to repay my patonage by bending me over at every opportunity. Owner told me no problem, $150to service and fill. I went to another shop I haven't used for a while and had it done on the spot for $75. Talked to the tech about using HC12 which is really suppose to chill down the system. He said he couldn't install it but I could get it at a parts store or Wally world. He said I could just add it to my system and it would really cool down the system.

Funny how some shops just want to screw everybody over. I got into it with my favorite shop in gainesville one time after they kept my buick overnight, I drove it about 5 miles and one of the calipers locked shut on me. We had a shouting match about how that happened, and it probably wasn't their fault, but they treated me like royalty every time i went in since.

Never tried tinting windows. I've tinted a few lenses on a couple cars though.
I might give it a shot though. Just gotta find time with working 6 days a week and having my son on my off day

Ordered up a shift light and shifter last night. Was kinda holding off to see how the tuning was going to workout. The tuning was easy, but a little distracting driving and watching the laptop. I need to workout a simple data logging scheme. Red is running great. I'm a deadbeat with posting videos, I'll try to get my son to help me out.

I'd been smelling oil burning lately, I was getting concerned... So i took it to my in-laws, jacked it up and dropped the plastic "skid plate" (that's a joke in itself...) Anyway, turns out it was leaking from the oil filter... It was tight, and it wasn't double gasketed, so it must have been a defective filter or gasket. I changed the oil and filter, then Gunk'd it clean. Looks good as new now!

I was cleaning Red today and looking at the headlights. At first I thought they had clearcoat over spray on them and I started cleaning them but I'm thinking now that the OEM came with some kind of a clearcoat and it is starting to come of. Not a pretty sight. My question, do they come with some sort of coating? What is the technique to polish the lens?

Got my cupholder from Geno's installed a little while ago and just got back from giving it a test run. Bounced it around down some of the worse roads around here and also took it down an old washed out dirt road. Aside from one huge pothole, my drink stayed put. Didn't spill a drop. I highly recommend this to anyone with a 2nd gen that wants to use a cupholder

Also got my bullbar mounted back on and cleaned up the wiring from the initial install of my Hellas

console looks good. looks like you might need a harness rated for a higher heat/amperage.

txbass06
06-22-2011, 06:19 PM
I was using the harness that came with the HID's. It's getting completely re-wired once it cools off a little this afternoon lol. I picked up a new fuse holder and some wire loom. I never actually routed the wires when I first installed them so this one was just ran in front of my condenser for my ac. It bounced around enough to pull the pin on one side around till it started making contact with the other. I'm going to run it across the top of the condenser in the loom this time

Adam, the hardest part was actually getting the damn pin to turn lol. Had to get a big pair of channel locks to get enough grip to twist it. The instructions tell you that a 1/2 turn is all you should need but that was bs. I probably turned mine a full 3 turns before it would latch. I still need to adjust it a little more but I'm not sure how much thread I've got left on the pin in the console. It won't latch by itself anymore. I've got to tap the top of it now

Yes, it is...I know I need new shocks, I am still on stock MOPAR ones...I crawled back under there a little bit ago and went over everything again with the white lithium grease.

I REALLY want Bilsteins, but cant really afford $65 a shock for them, I can get the Monroes for like $27...but really wanna hold off and buy them with my leveling kit and do it all at once.

Went out (hot/humid) and jacked the ass end up and stuck 4x4's above the axles and bumps. This lifted the old girl high enough I could run her up on ramps. Lowered trucks are a bitch to work on underneath. checked the headers and pipes. Seems to me she is really getting loud now. Everything is tight bent the hole a little for my floorshifter cable to have a little better angle. Ended up cutting my knuckle and bleeding all over the place. Damn blood thinners. I just notice after I rebooted my PCM, the odometer came up and I have almost 75k on the old girl. This surprises me some, as I don't really drive her anymore.
She's running great, but I'm planning on doing something with the engine, just haven't figured what yet. My dream list has on it, stage II Trans, BV heads. But the water/methanol injection is the next mod.

Speaking of methanol injection, a couple weeks ago on craigslist there was a dude selling a methanol injection setup...but if I recall correctly, he wanted an ungodly amount of cash for it...

I can't say for sure, but it feels better. Still not like a nice cool morning. But mt current list of things to do is, install VB and either build or buy a meth/injection kit. Went and got my 16,000 mile service done. Oil change, rotate tires(even though I'm not sure if they needed it since they've only been on the truck about 7,000 miles), and air filter. Was gonna be about $80(even with the $18 oil change for life for buying at that dealer) but the service manager found a coupon which brought it down to about $50

Smitty
09-02-2011, 05:14 PM
Good idea to rotate your tires every 5,000 miles! Will last a LOT longer. I have a life time rotation and balance. Get it done every oil change (5,000 - 7,500)

AWE Daniel
09-02-2011, 05:28 PM
Yup I got my tires from a local place where if you buy all four from them they will rotate them for free for life, so after I change the oil I take it straight to them, they take about 10 min and balance em up and air em up and stick em back on.

Gotta make the $1100 tires last!

Well my mom's car needs an egr valve so they ordered the parts and it should be here tuesday and it's gonna be about a $300 job. Ordered the R/T badge for my truck which was about $86. I was reading a little maintenance schedule and it said that 30,000 mile service for hemis was almost $800. Hopefully mine won't be that much since the only things similar between it and what my owners manual says is oil change, tire rotation, spark plugs, and air filter. Says nothing about transmission flush, power steering flush, fuel injection flush, differential service, or the brake flush like the dealer maintenance pamphlet says

My dealership is pretty good to me and my mom cause they know my aunt who used to work there so the service managers will look for coupons to lower the cost while our cars are getting worked on. Now on the other hand there's a dealer about 30 miles the other way from our house and my mom went there for an inspection and ended up with an over $800 repair bill; never going there again

That's cool, usually dealers are good to their own people. But you guys would be shocked at some of the quotes we give to customers that just come in for an oil change and rotate. Especially if its an older Grand Cherokee, our techs love those Jeeps lol To top it all of depending on the tech alot of that repair will be a smoke job ie they wont actually do it or do it half arsed like instead of replacing it just clean it and be done.

There are several on CL here most are short bed cab high with windows anywhere from 250-500+,there was several on CL i really liked but 400-450 is too expensive for my budget one of them was white but i'm happy with what i got it was cheap and i don't mind projects.

Well I very nervously drilled into my dash :jawdrop:

The satellite radio receiver has been held up with double sided 3M tape, but It has fallen on me several times through the summer, so I finally got fed up with it and screwed it in.

I am a baby about the dash, I am so frickin scared of it crackin.

Tee's everyday driver CHANCE just hit 153,000 miles today so I went out and changed the oil: (Do this faitfully on all our cars at 3,000 miles). Checked all the fluids for her, adjusted the air pressure in the tires and while I had the front end up some; thought I'd polish it out some. This car, because of the mileage, has lots of stone chips in the nose and it was getting dull. So I polished and buffed the front end FOUR TIMES today. I also detailed up the headlights some. Eh, looks some better. Just for giggles, I armoraled the tires for her too and detailed under the engine bay some..

Was going to buy Optima's. Have heard they are some of the best batteries going. They only had 1 in stock, needed 2, so passed on them. They were $180 a piece for the red tops, $200 plus for the yellow tops.

Im getting my whole windshield tinted tomorrow Probably going to go with 50. I legally can have it since I had a prescription for a tinted window just have get another one because I lost the other one. I'll get that when I get my eye exam again. 2 reasons why Im getting it and thats to reduce the glare during the day from other cars and reduce glare from lights at night.
