This is just a thread to discuss which filters are made bu whom...IMO Wix is the BEST filter made ever...But if you are like me, you actually have to drive to Lakeland or Tampa to find an actual Wix Filter. However, Wix has contract agreements with other comapnies to rebrand their filters for auto parts stores...

So far I have found that Wix makes the NAPA Gold line of Filters and they also make the Carquest Blue line of filters...

I have also heard they make the Motorcraft filters, but am not exactly sure of that yet....

If anybody else knows of any other brands they use post it up so we know.

I'm with you, Wix is all that'll be on any vehicle I own or do maintenance on. Luckily, I work at O'Reillys so I get a little break on them. But they're the exact same as the Napa Gold filters. Haven't heard about them making Motorcraft though

I was originally going to run the Mopar but after doin a little research, I decided on Wix

Does O'Reileys have their own line of filters? If so, who makes theirs..?

EDIT: Reading now that Motorcraft is made by Purolator.....NOT WIX

I am changing the oil in my truck this weekend...I will be going to NAPA for a Gold Filter..too bad we all dont run the same filters and it would be cost effective to go in together and buy a master pack of NAPA Gold filters for our members...

I run mopar and fram ones. Which ever I come across. I try and use mopar fluids/filters all the time.

I run mopar because I'm under warranty and have heard them not warranting issues because of aftermarket filters. Usually with the diesels and turbo cars/trucks.

Oh yeah man...watch that warranty for sure....

Yeah, but since the NAPA is literally just up the road from me, I will just get the NAPA Gold Filter from NAPA...

The Wix Filter Part number for my 5.2 is 51085
The NAPA Gold is FIL1085

Same exact filter
From where I live, Lakeland isnt that much diff than those places in Plant City

Adding NAPA Pro Select to the list, as it is also a Wix Filter, but with a composite filter media....and NAPA NASCAR Select Filter, it is also WIX with a Synthetic/Cellulose filter media...

EDIT" From what I can find on the Webz, they were made by Purolator, but now made by Fram....

K&N and Valvoline VR1. Never leave's any of our vehicle's.

SmokedRam

I have thought about running a K&N, but bu the comparisons the only thing it has to offer that Wix cannot is the nut on the housing to remove it...I still say Wix is better than K&N in the oil filter market...

I run Purolator in everything I own.

+1. Purolator Gold.

WIX is still top on my list, their just hard to come by, and never had a problem with the Purolator golds, especially since I still change my oil every 3k even with full synthetic.

There is, but I am partial to Advanced Auto. I'm well known in there and they cut me some great deals.

SmokedRam

ahhhhh, I use a mix of all 3 stores...Advance, Autozone and NAPA...Dad use to always say if NAPA can't get it, nobody can...lol

Read up a little extra on the K&N's.. Longer oil change time frame while maintaining regulated oil pressure and oil temp's which in turn ='s longevity.

You know, I was actually considering switching to a k&n or royal purple filter, and then just changing the oil filter every other oil change, instead of every oil change.

I won't run Royal...

I've had then best luck in our street car's with VR1. Best luck in my racecar's with AMSoil.

I'm not talking about the oil, I was talking about their filters. Comparable to K&N filters. I love Amsoil, what I used to run in all my MX bikes.

Gotcha'. I never ran a Royal filter before. Didn't even know they made oil filter's.
