Any guesses on why I got this?? :naughty:

And no, my axle and differential now are perfectly fine...

Changing out your rear gear?

Yup :pedobear: Going from 3.55's to 3.92's! Got the axle out of a 1998 Dodge Ram SS/T. We're just going to swap axles, hoping to have it done in about a week or so!

Sweet. I have 3.92s they are nice. LSD?

Yup! It's actually more of a posi-trac because the build sheet on the truck said "Anti-Spin Rear Differential"

Same deal I have on mine...the 3.92 with the Anti-Spin

So with Anti-Spin, do both of your tires spin instead of just one like it does with open diff?

From what I have read. both will spin if both have equal traction, it's not a locker where the traction is unbiased, it will still give more torque to the higher friction wheel.

I don't drive my truck hard or try to spin the wheels, though. (freakin 20's are too damn expensive), as a matter of fact, the only time I have even had this thing over 3K RPM was racing Lee on the way to a show. With that being said, the only experience I can offer is from what I have read on it as I don't have any real experience to prove or disprove how good the factory LSD is.

If its the same rear gear I have, they both spin. It's a little interesting in the rain lol.

Awesome :D The only reason I'm wanting both to spin is so that I'll get a lot better start off the line at the track... Plus my 0-60 and 1/4 mile times will be faster to... :)

Say goodbye to your turning radius though

I'll just mash the gas and power slide around the tighter corners then! Lol :joke:

My reg cab had the open diff, it turned on a dime. This one, not so much lol

maybe it was the two less doors lol

No it was a huge difference, one wheel spins much much faster than the other when turning with an open diff. So it turns much quicker.

weird. does that tire wear out faster too? jw

I haven't noticed any significant difference in wear on mine

Sure if you were to drive around in circles ALL THE TIME.

Maybe if you had driven both you would understand.

It's a well-known fact that vehicles with an LSD have a bigger turning radius, for the exact reason Daniel stated. The outside wheel can't turn as fast as a car with an open diff, and that makes the vehicle swing out wider. Also, the length of the car does make a difference, so you are both right. The LSD is the biggest factor, though. I've driven different P71's, with and without LSD, and the ones with it do turn wider.

Also painted the drums the same color silver

Took it for a drive and it is AMAZING how awesome it drives now. It used to be a workout getting it to 3000 rpm, now its getting there in 1st gear just lightly touching the pedal.

Went down the highway... Here's the numbers
65 mph - 1950ish rpm
70 mph - 2100ish rpm
75 mph - 2250ish rpm
80 mph - 2350ish rpm

Tomorrow, we got to back the brake shoes off some because they're rubbing on the drums like crazy. Also gonna bleed the brakes again and swap out speed sensors because the speedo is acting funny and the BRAKE and ABS lights are staying illuminated.

Overall though I'm really happy with the outcome! It'll be alot better when the wheels get freed up :pedobear:
