Lucas is good too...but Berryman's is the stongest on the market. Even stronger than anything we blend here at our plant.

Where'd you buy it from? I am totally unaware of any where in Florida currectly selling our brand at the consumer level.

If you've used Advance Auto Parts, Federated Auto Parts, Part's Plus Auto Parts or Citgo, in the last 5 years, chances are you have already used it.

The oil and additives are the same, no matter what label is glued to the bottle. The only difference is how it's marketed.

On a side note is mobil 1 synthetic ever sold under a different name? That stuff is $$$ and I take 10qts!

NO, we used to blend oils for Mobil, Castrol, Valvoline and Quaker State...but they all but resolved any contract packaging agreements they all had with other companies to better control quality.

However, we still use their additives. We also use, Shell/Pennzoil additives, Exxon and Lubrizol.

That's where the $$$ is spent in the oil business...there arent very many additive producing companies in North America, so when a company like Lubrizol has down time, nearly every oil company suffers...when additive companies raise additive costs, every oil company raises their costs...

We also blend Shell Rotella for SOPUS

That's something I have been preaching to many people...NEVER buy oil from an auto parts chain...ALWAYS buy from WalMart...they have pricing power due to their purchase volume. On the average, for a 5 quart container of engine oil, you can expect WalMart's regular prices to be $10-$15 CHEAPER than Advance, Autozone or NAPA.

No sir and as far as I know it has never been. It is a SOPUS product (Shell Oil/Pennzoil United States)...I would truely consider it their "money maker"

We rarely even blend an 0WXX oils...only for special order. However, as engine tehnology advances and tolerances tighten, we will be blending more I would assume. When the new Taurus's came out from Ford, they call for a 0W20.

The oil we give to our raceteam to use is like a 0W70...pushing nearly 8,000 horsepower.

Oh and Mike, WalMart stocks the Mobil 1 0W40 bud $6.47 per quart is the online price versus Advance Auto Parts price of $8.99 per quart...

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobil-1-0W-40-1qt/17034373

Buying it from WalMart at their $6.47 per quart price could save you nearly $25 per oil change before tax and oil filter.

Seafoam. Cleans out an engine quick, but change your oil within 500 miles if you put it in the crankcase.

I don't know any reasons to support this, but I have heard that Lucas is mostly snake oil and marketing. Maybe it works differently in different cars, or some makes don't tolerate it. Whatever you use, change your fuel filter regularly and go to the same gas station every time, if you can. That should cut down on crappy gas/contaminants.

Lucas does market their products well, almost TOO well. As far as fuel is concerned, quality of the gasoline varies from blend to blend, it isnt as consistent as you may think.

As far as putting seafoam in your crankcase...ANOTHER snake oil tactic. You can do the same with Kerosene in your crankcase, or ATF...although, the best way to keep your engine clean, is to maintain your oil regularly. ALWAYS follow the manufacturers recommended drain intervals...even if you are using an oil rated for 25,000 mile drain intervals.

To be fair, I have never put it in the oil, I have just used it as a "top-down" cleaner through the PCV valve, which works remarkably well. I also try to get my gas from the same gas station every time, not only to keep the contaminant variable down, but also to help with mileage issues; since you pointed out that gas does vary, and most gas stations use the same supplier to their stations, as in one gas station uses the same supplier, but another one may use a different one. Strangely, Kangaroo and Marathon both use Eagle as their distributor, at least locally.

I follow the heavy-duty recommendations for my car as much as possible, every 3k (or so). Factory recommendation is 5k.

I did a little bit better than that today :)
2 5qt jugs Mobil 1 0w40 and used a paper $20 off $50 coupon that came in the mail.
That brought the total to $59.90 including tax :)
I also recycled a used battery for $5 gift card so my out the door price $54.90 :)

I think that's pretty good...
I tried to order online and use a coupon but guess they don't allow that anymore on oil...but for anything else order online and do pickup in store and save big $$$
