Thanks to Kevin I got the hookup on his older set of Horns, and got around to installing them today. Enjoy! The neighbors are gonna hate me and the kids are gonna have wet undies!

They are the horns that I got from kevin, it was just the compressor, tank, and horns, I had to wire it all up myself. It wasnt bad at all, just time consuming.

Update: The compressor I got with this was looking and feeling pretty worn out, and it was loud as hell. When it would come on it would be so loud that I would have to turn up the radio to ignore it.

So yesterday around 4pm I ordered a new viar compressor from hornblasters. Hornblasters shipped it out the same day (from tampa)and it arrived today, 24hrs after I ordered it it is installed and is super quiet and it fills the tank much faster. Great service from hornblasters! I thought I would share for you guys if you are thinking if ordering a kit, check these guys out first.

nice job Daniel, I also have one and it looks just like yours and I also put it in the same place you did, I don't have a tank for mine it is just direct drive, did you leave the stock horns hooked up or did you undo them? Nice job looks great

Direct Drive? How does that work?

I unhooked the plug to the factory horn after I tapped into that circuit for the trigger, so I use the steering wheel to "honk" like normal. I can also use the factory panic function to set them off remotely.

Direct Drive? How does that work?

I think that is when the compressor is hooked directly to the horn.

SmokedRam

Exactly...there is no tank...just a 12v compressor, hosed directly to the trumpets...easier to hook up and saves alot more space...

^ I dont see how that works without a sufficient air supply.

All of the "ads" selling train horns advertise very high db ratings. The ones I have are advertised at around 150db but I did have them metered at our big show back in February. The meter was right at the trumpets and metered at 138db.

I'm familiar with the Whelen brand because of work, some of those things scream and sound cool.

Yup they still work great, i have a leak somewhere i need to fix, if i let it sit for more than a day the tank empties itself. I tried to find the leak a few weeks back and couldnt seem to find it with the soap and water trick, but ill take another crack at it soon. The new compressor pumps it up so fast it hasnt bothered me too much.

I still have a leak too, even after Kevin and I found and fixed one leak.

Try Windex instead of soap and water. It only takes a little squirt and it keeps bubbling and bubbling and doesn't run off like soapy water.
