Anybody know anything about acoustic guitar

Like what's a good starter or better acoustic guitar and what should I be lookin for? Any and all info is greatly appreciated.
I would like to buy one hopefully this year.

Oh and I love stuff like aic the old stuff - soundgarden , tool and sevendust.

Do you have any music shops around you? A lot of them will sell starter "kits" that have the guitar, a few pics, spare set of strings, a book or DVD to get you started and maybe an amp. That's the way I went when I started playing bass an it worked our good for me

Yeah the starter kit is the way to go.. I picked up a yamaha kit a while back which I still have the guitar, squire is decent too. Hit up your local Sam Ash or Guitar Center and just ask around. They're usually very friendly and knowledgeable

Back in December i bought a starter kit at Costco. It included a Fender Squier SA-100 acoustic guitar, a cheap gig bag, clamp on digital tuner, a stand and 6 picks...all for $100. Adam recently bought 2 nice guitars (an Ovation and a Dean) off Craigslist for a good price. Good luck.

Be careful buying off craigslist if you don't know what to look for, especially with an acoustic. The neck could be bent, the bridge could be separating from the body, the body seams could be coming apart, etc. Also be careful with pawn shops too for the same reason. A reputable music store is the way to go.

Yeah, I bought a Dean round back and an Ovation shallow bowl (both acoustic electric) from a guy who was going to pawn them. Both in mint or near mint condition. The Ovation alone is worth in the neighborhood of $700-$900 and it also included a shallow bowl case, all of the paperwork, store tags and the set up sheet from the lutheran who set it up. The Dean is worth about $400 and I simply havent picked it up since I brought it home. I also have a Takamine G series and an Ibanez, which are full acoustic. I've also had some Fender acoustics that have been nice.

My fav brand when it comes to acoustics are Takamine though. They also make a "starter" or "budget" line called Jasmine, which, are pretty damn good for the price. In my experience, the action on starter rigs can be a little high, so you will def want to lower it if you find that you are having problems with your fret hand being able to fret chords, plus, it will make it easier on you if you are a beginner.

Definately, I dont care what brand guitar you go with, first thing you want to do is ditch the factory strings. Get you a set of Dean Markley Blue Steels in light gauge...
