I did it myself using a 3.8l Ford Taurus fan, and a kit from advance, then the motor in the fan went and I reverted back to my clutch fan, until I buy a new motor for the fan.

I changed my clutch fan on my 05 Ram to a electric one and wouldn't do it again if I got another Ram. I really didn't feel that much difference at all switching to the electric fan and its takes some work to install one. Plus I was constantly worried about it coming on and my truck not overheating so I finally took it off and put the clutch fan back on.

??? My truck is stock. Were talking about electric fans. I have the super big air plane fan and of course I have a fan clutch what mechanical fan doesn't?
I looked online and found aftermarket replacements and they want almost 600 bucks.

I put a Flex-A-Lite Black Magic Extreme 180 on my truck four years ago. It has done fine towing my trailer through city traffic in the hot Florida summer.

Flex-a-Lite Extreme 180 installed in '05. Never any type of problem to date. I did it because the clutch fan is lousy at cooling the truck in the southern heat when crawling, especially when crawling while hauling or pulling.
Have towed a 7700# tractor/rough cutter/trailer combo in south Georgia heat including a good bit of slow going off-road at the farm and my temp needle has never even gotten close to the half way mark...
