Just installed a ported tb on 5.2L

Picked up a ported 52mm fastman tb on another form for $50 shipped and just installed it and wow what a difference... Throttle response is amazing... Might pick up some mpg too hopefully. Well worth the money highly recommended!

For the 50mm it's like $250...none of the are actually "new" though...he more or less reman's factory throttle bodies

That is correct, when you buy one, you then return your core, which then the price becomes 170, I believe that's what it was when I got my 50mm for my 5.2, that's what is recommended, good luck with the 52mm on your 5.2, I almost tried it, but Dan the fastman discouraged me....I almost got another from him for my current truck, but got a p&p 68.5 from a guy on df for 40 bucks shipped, and a very well known guy in the fam world p&p it...may go 70mm later then ill have to buy fastmans...

So far so good with the 52mm...no problems at all... The price was too good to pass up... Had the same one on my supercharged Dakota R/T before and loved it for the money. I don't think it's too much for the 5.2L.

I had one on mine as well, ported and polished by bwdakrt, awesome guy!! Was only $90 back then (2010). I know he said he was going to stop rebuilding them due to arthritis in his hands, we had a few good talks over the phone. When I went to purchase the TB, I gave him a $5 tip just for the excellent service and communication, but he wouldn't except it! Just a stand up guy.

Couple questions if you don't mind...

1. Did you do any internal engine mods before you put the throttle body on?

2. Did you have to get a custom tune done to make it work right with the engine?

3. Any noticeable improvement in overall performance?

I didn't notice any change
I had bought and sold my fastman TB for my 5.2 and I'd have to say the same about it, from the both craftsmanship is great from fastman and bwdakrt

You would just have to watch the classifieds on other forums, as much as I hate to give other guys traffic, its the only way, unless you buy a new one
