Finally got rid of the crappy ProCraps. Stepped it up to the Nitto Terra Grapplers. What an awsome tire.

I had 35x12.5x17 on before. They were D load range, rubbed when turning and terrible on tread wear. Over all not impressed on the ProCraps

So I Went with a LT285/70/17 E 80PSI 3750lbs, Not to mention the Killer Price. ;)

Enjoy the pics:

'Twas a tire shop in my hometown in south Ga. a few years back. Got on board heavily with Pro Comp. I mean to the extent that the regional distribution mgr. came in for an event. Posters, banners, etc. and very aggressive pricing on Pro Comp tires.

A LOT of guys in my hunting club bought Pro Comps. Lot of unhappy campers. Lots of guys with wear issues, LOTS of weight needed to keep em balanced and just poor quality tires. One buddy of mine put the A/Ts on his Wrangler and had them worn down to slicks in 18k miles.

Tire shop ended up taking down all the pretty Pro Comp banners and stopped pushing the tires aggressively, but it was too late. Place is a vacant overgrown lot now.

Congrats on the Terra Grapps, you should like 'em. I have a set on my Grand Cherokee but in a 265/65/17 C load range tire and so far, I'm very pleased.

You'll find they aren't the best tread in the world for mud, but they are EXCELLENT about everywhere else. VERY solid wet pavement performance...

i have them as well. i love them, 8k miles on mine, barely show any signs of wear. i have the 285/75-16 D at 65psi. the fronts are slightly cupped from my bad hubs, though i rotated them about 3k ago, and they wore back even, i havent had any problems with them. i was also told that these tires are actually better than the bfg a/ts in the mud, and i loved the bfgs when i had them on my old ranger.

i paid $180 a tire mounted, balanced, and installed.

I used to run Wild Country M/T's on my F250...33x12.50x16.5...they are really good tires for their price too. They wear true as well and are not very loud on the highway. I paid $400 for them new mounted, balanced and put on the truck.

What kind of Pro Comps did you have? I loved my 37" Extreme MT's on my '98. I ran them for about 20k miles and a lot of abuse off road and when I sold the truck they still had 70-80% tread left on them. Just had to keep them rotated every 3k miles. Hopefully the TerraGrapplers work out better for ya.

I had the AT tires from ProComp. Also I got the tires below cost here at work for 185.65.

And I know these tires will do hella lot better than the ProCraps.

damn thats alot. when i was workin at a garage, i had put 10.5 on one side, and i had to balance it single sided cause 2 sides wouldnt balance at all.

Thought I would update this thread. So far I have 19,000 miles on the tires and they have worn down to 6/32nds and 7/32nds. Am I impressed so far? No but I love these tires and the ride and traction. Honestly hope I can get another 5-10K out of them. So those ProComps may of not been all that bad that I got 28K out of them and had about 5/32nds left.

Hmmm...same tires as me except mine are 295. I bought them because they have great reviews and I heard countless people say they have gotten 40k, 50k and even 60k miles out of them...sounds like that is BS now lol.

Yeah Im not easy on the tires either but I expect more than only 20ish. I have done a handful of burn outs and they spin when the truck is tuned on level 10. I still have some tread and they are not down to the wear bars yet. I believe DOT states once they are down to 2/32nds they must be replaced. I still have some time hopefully they can last me another year at least. I would hate to have to shovel out a trans build and new tires at the same time lol

LOL...yeah that would suck!

Aren't we talking about NTGs? Mine have about 20K and they still look new.

As I understand it we are talking about NTG's, Daniel.

Have you ever heard any scuttlebutt about them not lasting that long?

I've heard it both ways. The place I got mine from rotate them for free so I have them do it every 5k,they also check the air and balance when they do it, so that might have something to do with it

The ones I heard talk good about the NTG's said rotation every 5k or 6k miles is key to good tread life.

Aaron, what has been your rotation interval?

03 Rammer
08-11-2012, 02:01 PM
They are only about 1/32nd in difference between all tires. Rotate every oil change so that would be 7k. Nitro in the tires set at 60psi, even wear all across. Also remember Daniel the 2500s are heavier I dont know if that has anything to do with wearing down faster.
