Gotta love waterfalls in Florida.

I do believe those falls were all man made. The park used to be an amusement park (something like Cypress Gardens) from the late 1930's up to the 70's. Then the state bought the land in the 90's and made a state park out of it.

The water was clear and cool...72* all year round.

There was some of our group that did the 4 hour and they said it was to long. I guess the current slowed down some and it was slow going for awhile.

Yep. Rainbow Springs used to be an amusement park, something like Cypress Gardens. Had a Zoo, rodeo, gardens, etc. It was built back in the late 30's and closed in the 70's or 90's cant remember. The state bought the land back in 1999 and made it into a state park.

You can walk all through it, see where the zoo was (reminded me of Lost). See the foundations for all the old buildings. Still has some of the old outside furniture etc. Seemed like a ghost town when you are back away from the main buildings and it was quiet/no one around.

I never knew that either, and like Adam I've lived here my whole life.

I only knew about it because of the signs at the park.
