Potential Show - NPR, FL - 10-23-11

Hey y'all (see, i'm starting to blend in with you southerners!)

A co-worker approached me today and started asking me about the club and if we'd be willing to put on a car show for charity for him

He runs a Knights of Columbus pumpkin patch at his church on Little Rd in NPR, and he wants to add a car show this year to increase the donations to charity. I told him I would put some feelers out to the club and see how everyone felt. It would be Saturday 10/23 - and the time of day is flexible, but he was thinking mid afternoon into the evening.

I'd be more than happy to take the lead on this if the club is willing to back me. I was in a rush to get out of work this morning so I didn't talk monetary specifics, but from what I gathered from him is the K of C would lay out any money needed for overhead, and then recoup it from what is made off the show, and donating the remaining profits to charity.

Right now I just want to get an idea as to who would be on board, and from there, I'll go talk to him and figure out the specifics.

He wants to coordinate it with the events taking place at the pumpkin patch. The specifics with the time can be worked out as it gets a little closer though. I did tell him that many of us prefer the night shows because of our lights, so it is a possibility.

the 22nd is the last game of our football season, but I am still good as it is a home game against a team coming down from Gainesville...if all goes well, we will be done at the field by 2PM...so I can come home and clean up Ruby then head to NPR.

The show is a go! I spoke to Tony (my co-worker) today on the phone. It will be Sat October 22. I'm going to speak to him more Wednesday morning when he comes into work and work out times, get the address, find out if he wants to do anything special like a burnout contest, live music, etc etc.

I'd love to get a handful of vendors, including Jax Wax. I'm also hoping I could get sponsors for about 15 trophies. (Top 10, best GM/Mopar/Ford/Import and Best in show)

As I get more info, I'll pass it on, and I'll start working on a flyer for it.

Ok- here's what we got for details..

Saturday October 22nd, from 3pm-9pm. Registration closes at 630. Trophies to go off at 9.
Location: St James Apostle Catholic Church, 8400 Monarch Drive, Port Richey. (Right off Little Rd, just North of Ridge.)

There's a parking lot that will fit about 100 cars for the show, with overflow on to a field.

This is in conjunction with a Pumpkin Patch and Craft Fair run by the Knights of Columbus Council 8155. They will have food vendors there, so we don't have to worry about that.

We need to secure a DJ, vendors, and sponsors for the trophies.

As for trophies, I'm thinking about doing 17

Nothing too fancy, just plaques with a little engraving and maybe the SEM logo.

We'll do a 50/50, and door prizes if we can get some donated.

I'm going to work on a flyer tonight, tomorrow I'll try and hit up a trophy shop to get some prices, and then I'll work on getting sponsors. The sponsors and vendors are going to be what I'll need the most help on now.

I figure we can do $35 for a vendor booth. $20 Registration day of show, $15 to pre-reg by October 1st. Once I get prices for trophies, I'll post up how much it is to sponsor one. Then we can work on sponsors. Hudson Valley Emergency Outfitters (My friend's company) is going to sponsor 1, maybe 2.

For vendors, of course I'd love to have Jax Wax there, I was also thinking S&R, maybe redline, and if anyone has other ideas, I'd love to hear them.

honestley art it needs some revision to me it looks like a mopar only show, id hate for it to be like the cop shop where everyone thought only mopars would be there....it needs some more umph, and especially to target all cars and trucks....

Try the Lightning.. Don't think you'll get Thunderbug since it's a home game that night but you may get a Lightning Girl or 2 and maybe their Mobile Marketing Truck

I just changed up the flyer - I didn't wanna overload it with pictures of vehicles - but I think i got the point across that any vehicle is welcome, and I added a little more pop with the flag backdrop

I'm on my way out the door to go talk with Awards and More on Tampa Rd about trophies. Anyone have any other trophy places to suggest? I really don't know who's good and who isn't down here, so i'm open to suggestions.

Ok - here's what I've got so far -

For a Black Plaque 7x9 with a brushed silver plate - a screened SEM logo, and whatever lettering we want would be $30-40 depending on how many we order.

So to sponsor a trophy, it's $40 each. If they wind up costing less than $40 each to make, the remaining money gets put in the final pot for charity.

That's kinda odd...a church allowing a car show in their parking lot on a sunday night. Unless something changes, I will have my son that weekend so I will only likely be able to come for a few hours...probably will need to leave around 6 or so.

This is a layout of the property we'll be using, and the ideas I've had as to where I think things should be put. It's not finalized, but just some thoughts. Before the show date I'd like to get some people out there with me to contribute ideas.

Also, we need trophy sponsors and vendors! Right now we've got 2 vendors (Jaxwax and JRC) and only 2 trophies sponsored. (HV Emergency and Daniel's Mother are each sponsoring one).

Pasco Fire has already been requested for a "special detail" - they'll come, but they're still an in service unit. I gave a flyer to the guy who brought the engine yesterday, and Jeff from Dunedin. Port Richey is bringing a charger, and I'm waiting to hear back from NPR and PCSO. I've gotta get an email out to Pinellas SO to see if they can send a car or 2, plus i've also got the contact info for a deputy who has an old pinellas car. I'd like to have as many there as possible, so use any connections that you have. Let me know if you need some flyers.

Every show we've been going to, I've been giving out a ton of flyers, so hopefully we'll get a good turnout.

art, what about places like harcore trucks(dunedin), gearhead performance(dunedin), murray automotive(clearwater), contact gabe at AP, S&M truckworld, im just throwing out ideas of local places, maybe talk to kevin and see if extreme would want to do a tent, they do our decals...i know there are a cpl places on 19 in npr like westcoast accesories or something like that, rent-a-wheel, again just trying to get ideas flowing...
