There's only a few of us Smitty. I think just you, Aaron (03 rammer) and myself...that are active anyway.

Are on Dodgeownerforums.com by any chance? I've been visiting the cummins section of that forum and it seems very friendly to newbies, where some other diesel forums are not newbie friendly.

Yes, I noticed. And the Doghouse Diesel guys are big on there...can't remember a name but the owner (I met on DF) has a QC 2500 with 800+ hp and an ungodly amount of torque on his daily driver. That much hp and tq that is reliable and dependable is no small feat...he knows cummins.

Ken, who are you going with for the trans upgrade? Are you going with one that is pre built or are you wanting to have your current one built up? I know a hell of a trans guy if you want one.

^ Ima keep that in mind for the future.

My transmission is what scares me about performance mods...gotta use your head and not blow up the tranny playing with a high/race setting on tuner/programmer.

Yep...That is Rich. He just bought a EFI live tuner. Suppose to be the top of the line in tuners. Change about anything there is to change ECM wise. He is the most knowledgeable person I know when it comes to diesels.

I am not really sure yet. Garmon (In GA.)is highly recommended on the DOF forum.
DOF usually has a G2G around March at the Doghouse. Was thinking of stopping on the way up to the G2G and getting it done. Or have the parts shipped to the G2G and have it done there. But, I am always open to suggestions. There is suppose to be guy in Land of Lakes are that is highly recommended on another CTD forum.

Depending on what is recommended, could just add 3 disk TC, valve body, and rebuild kit if needed to mine. Or just buy a complete tranny ready to go. Garmon has a tow/performance set up I am looking at.

Who do you reccomend?

I just had a rebuilt unit put in my gen2...of course it is a 46RE, but they guy I went to, Bill Marsh, will also do custom build ups. I dropped my truck off in Leesburg at his shop at like 10AM last Monday morning and he had it done at 11AM Tuesday morning and he did the trans replacement, 3 freeze plugs and an aftermarket trans cooler set up...and it was only $1125 out the door, with a lifetime warranty.

It is called Budget Transmission, they are right off 27 in Leesburg

Thank's for your service, yes 273 it was a 2bbl motor but i installed a formula S 4 bbl manifold and a edelbrock 500 cfm carb, adjusted the valves it woke that motor up. With a little portin and polishin, small cam those motors will scream [thats the plan] got a 904 that came with the charger cheeta valve body all drag racing internals to go in the cuda after the charger is runnin.

273 was in line with the 283, 289? Was there a high performance version?

Yes two 273's were offered
one was a 185 hp 2bbl / 8.5 to 1 compression
second was a 245 hp 4bbl / 10.5 to 1 compression
both were solid lifter motors
the latter was an option for all barracudas but mainly found in the formula S cars backed by a 4 speed.
fourmula S cars were the top of the line barracudas for 65-66 standard disk brakes,14 inch wheels, larger rearend, suretrack, swaybars, extra badges on exterior, console car.
Like anything else back then you could get most of these options on a standard cuda [except the badges].

My very first car was a 65 Dodge Coronet station wagon in a light blue. 318, auto. Loved that car. Great for dates to the drive-in though :naughty:

That car was tough. Used to put it in neutral, rev it up and drop it in low. Finally busted a motor mount and ran the fan through the radiator. Fixed that and all was good. Transmissions were bullet proof.

Aaah...the good old days.
