I just got all the grease off of it. But it has a big stain where the grease used to be, so should I paint it with some high heat black paint?

Can I just spray it with some high heat paint out of the spray can? How hot do the differentials get?

As long as you prep it good; should be NO problem and yeah, I'd paint it!

I just painted mine a couple weeks ago with regular flat black paint...hit the frame, leaf springs, inner rear fenders...still holding up great even with all the rain and mud I have to drive it through. Looks almost brand new.

I need to paint mine so bad. Mine looks like Colton's except mine is peeling, not grease.

I want Mag Hy-tec covers but should probably paint it to hold me over.

Adam, what prep work did you do to yours?

I would LOVE to have an air compressor again...when we moved 4 years ago, we needed the $$$ to rent a UHAUL. Had to sell the compressor to get the cash for it...I had a sad day that day.

Well I got the paint, had to drive more then I thought. Went to Ace Hardware and got there 8 minutes after they closed, who closes at 7? Oh well, so I went to Oreilleys and got it. Just put some more degreaser and washed it off. Now just waiting for it to cool down and dry off then on the paint will go! Think I'm gonna do the whole thing like Alex did

AWE Daniel

no primer?

I didnt use any, I figured since I was painting it with a flat black paint, which is almost primer anyway and I wasnt going over bare metal or cast, it would hold up. So far so good.

Looks good brother...if you wanna hot the backing plates on the drums, take a glop of Vaseline and put it on the bleeder valve...then when your dont painting, wipe it off...it will keep the bleeder valve from getting paint in it.

AWE Daniel
07-06-2011, 10:07 PM
Not bad! now when you change your diff oil you can paint that to make it stand out

ramthis9501

Should I get it off the back of the rotors?

SmokedRam
07-06-2011, 10:10 PM
Should I get it off the back of the rotors?

What rotors? You have drums in back right? What you painted over are the drum backing plates...you can paint them too, just like I said, take Vaseline and put it over the brake bleeder valve so you dont get paint inside of it.
