I just saw on a show that cutting the coil springs would lower the ride. Would that be a good way to go? Remember I like the cheap way lol and this is it. Just want to know if it would be a good way to do it

The recommended method is to use drop spindles to lower a vehicle. This maintains the stock geomentry. Coils can then be trimmed to adjust the final drop. Get cheap out of your mind, think quality and you will save time and money in the long run.

True... So what would happen if I did do that?

Cutting your springs will make you wheels angle inward causing rubbing and premature wear, it will also make your truck ride like crap. Just save up for the kit, a few more tile jobs will do it

Lowered springs have a higher spring rate than the OEM spring. This helps to counter the reduced travel of a shorter spring. Bumps stops are normally removed and replaced with a aftermarket one that is custom fitted. Cutting a OEM spring as stated reduces travel and knocks the alignment out of spec, sometimes to a degree that makes it very difficult to get aligned. Adjusters are often required and cost about $50 for each side, Plus a custom alignment that can cost around $200 when having the adjusters installed usually without a gurantee. If the alignment isn't done correctly you will chew up tires and it may be dangerous to drive. My advice is do it right the first time and be done with it. Dropped rides have many advantages. Good luck...

I went with belltech 2" drop coils on my Ram Sport. Loved them Stiffened up the ride some and made taking corners more fun.

hmmm. For some reason I am having trouble finding them for an 01. I know they changed a little bit of the front suspension on the 2wd's in 01. I ordered mine from Stylin Trucks.
