Talking with Jay over the weekend, we were thinking that it would be cool to all get together sometime around next memorial day. Its far enough out that people can start to plan and save for it. We were thinking maybe somewhere around North Georgia (kinda central for all of us...we got people from TX all the way to NC down to FL)....

We figured if there is enough interest, we could look into getting a group rate at a local hotel, and make a 2 day just hang out, storm a few local bars and restaurants and show people what SEM does! As it gets closer, we could all keep an eye out for a car show around the area we happen to invade...

Would also be a great way to recruit new members....What would someone say, if they were talking to a group of people from many different states that all met up to share an awesome weekend together???

What are ya'lls thoughts and opinions??

Not sure yet, but somewhere north GA.

Maybe find a place that has cabins for rent...

Its not north, but those fancy hotels in Savannah on the river are nice! Not a cabin, more of a mansion haha

Sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately though, if it's memorial day weekend next year, I'm out.. Jenna and I will probably be on, or just gettin back from our honeymoon.

The date is not a set date art as we would like everyone to be able to make a plan for this so if we gotta work around a wedding or honeymoon we will. Oh and not ghetto my wife will be with me....

I have a family reunion every Memorial Day weekend. And next year it's here in Plant City, we rotate years between here and Alabama.

Blue Ridge is a cool town. Matter of fact, I have a friend with a cabin just outside Blue Ridge (Mineral Bluff) that I have access to.

I'd be interested in going, but I can't do Memorial Day weekend...unless I skip out on the family reunion.

We should do this on Labor day

Onk
06-29-2011, 06:06 PM
I dont think this Labor day will fly...

But it doesnt have to be next Memorial day...

It may even be cheaper if its a non holiday weekend...

Just some random weekend in April even!

Just want to point out that when I see these things get planned for over a year in advance, everybody will say great lets do it! and then everybody forgets about it and when the time comes you have 4 people show up. I think it should be done this Fall, everybody should be able to scrounge a day or two with a few months notice. If you cant do that then what are the chances of doing it in a year?

Off season places are usually a lot cheaper. We go to Myrtle Beach the weekend before Thanksgiving and our rooms are like $50.00 a night with an ocean view. That is just an example.
