i know that the front shocks have that little bushing/bracket thing in the loop that bolts the bottom of the shock to the lower control arm... i have a set of shocks laying in the garage (that have a normal loop and bushing) and i was wondering if i could swap that bushing/bracket to the new ones in order to use these new shocks and not buy oem replacments. can it be done?

EDITED...cause now the more I think about it, the more I believe I would be telling you false info...

The part you are actually talking about is a cross pin...

So can I remove the factory ones and use them on these new shocks?

Man...I dont know if those things are pressed in or what...cause any play in them and they will probably fail...you could try it I guess...but I really dont know how long it would hold up.

I have never done this myself and haven't heard of anyone doing it. It would require pressing the bracket out of the rubber goumet using lubricate and I am not sure it can be done without damage. So my recommendation would be to try it, but also be prepared to replace them if it doesn't work. Good luck...

Ok, I can't seem to find any online. I think I'm gonna try to swap them... If that doesn't work I'll just fab some up. My front shocks are GONE!

I was wondering if the cross pins on the bottom of my front shocks can be swapped into a new set of shocks instead of buying new shocks. I have a set of new shocks in my garage that came of my buddies truck... If I can swap these cross pins, I'll have new shocks for free! Mine are toast

Summit has shocks, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MON-37206ST/

Whatever shock you end up using has to have the proper travel for your application.

Look up you truck shocks here, http://www.monroe.com/catalog/e-Catalog

These shocks I'm going to use are belstien shocks off a ranger. And considering my truck is lowered, the shorter length is perfect.

I've been around cars a very long time and that is the first time I have seen a name applied to the lower shock mount bracket, "Bar Pins".
Thanks,
