Yeah why. Also isn't a PA speaker a whole other impedance like 75 ohms or something. That might kill your radio.

the impedance on the one i just put in is 8 ohms

Never had a PA in my truck...when I was in the CB deal I did have an external and a fancy mic with a voice changer...I had it tuned and peaked too and could talk to people up in South Carolina on a clear night from my driveway in Zhills...
