Okay...Why do people that put them on their fenders apply them in "reverse" of how they should be? I have been wondering this for sometime, cause with the way people are applying them, they look too much like a knock off of the 96 Corvette Grand Sports...(see pic below)

So, where did the dual fender stripe come from? Well, for what I can tell from gathering info in the internet, it originated from the four 1963 Grand Sport Corvette racecars, as a way to tell the four cars apart. Which, is what the 1996 Corvette Grand Sport was commemorating.
So with that being said, wouldnt it be truer to the brand so to speak, to apply them on the fenders, in the same direction Dodge uses them in the Dodge Logo? (see image below)

^ It would be truer to place them like in the dodge logo. But, wouldn't they look "backwards" on a car that way?

Apply them to the rear quarter panels? And on the trucks, apply them to the back bed sides?

Yeah, that might look good.

I never really thought about it. You do have a point. But I guess the final answer is that people will put them on any way they want.

I guess all Im saying is the ones like you have there, people call them hemi whiskers, which is not what they are, IN MY OPINION, since they are turned the wrong way...know what I mean?

I hate the way those look on the trucks, not too bad on the magnums, but I think it would look cool on the rear of a chally

how are they backwards? on the passenger side of the car if you put a dodge image like you have in post 1, they are fine, on the d/s side if it said dodge on the fender it would be str8....i just dont understand why you think they are backwards....

The passenger side stripes are leaning properly...it's the drivers side that is not correct...the drivers side should be leaning like this " // " rather than how I have seen them applied, which is like this " \\ "
Get what I am saying?

It is kind of like when people put the American flag decal on the vehicles. One side has the stars in the front and the stripes in the back as if the wind is blowing the flag. Then on the other side it is reversed and looks stupid.

It's aboot symmetry, if they didn't go up onto the hood I'm sure they would go the right way. I like them on some trucks but like all stickers they should be well thought out and tasteful.

There is a place for all decals. Sometimes it is better to not have them than have them. I like them when they flow and don't distract from the over all look of the vehicle.

Like I said, I am not knocking anybody who has them, or anybody who has decals period...I love decals...just trying to understand why they are generally called Hemi Whiskiers, when they dont really lean the way Hemi Whiskers are supposed to. Thats all.

Why is my 5.7 called a hemi when it's not? I dunno but I'm going to still call it a hemi, mass appeal

I got a 5.9L in my '98 Ram and it has a Magnum. I guess it is all on how they want to advertise the engines. Magnums were here long before the Hemi. I like both, but they are really just the same. Ad guys says call it a Hemi and it is done.

My guess mostly marketing, but it is somewhat a hybrid design with the valves opposed rather than side by side. Kinda looks like a twin cam design but using push rods. I like the engine, especially when spun up tight. It makes sweet music......
