So basically you can put them anywhere a light goes except for the instrument cluster of course

yes and no, i drilled and wired mine up to go in a few key places, the air vents, the dome lights, cup holders, ect, all in on separate switch

i also soldered the wires to led / resistor combo

Thanks for the thought Lee. If you can get ahold of him just to see it would be appreciated ( its probably sold by now),I plan on doing a few mods to the truck come the holiday season when I start making some more money. I might just buy a new factory one if he has sold it already.
