It's been a quite a few weeks since we got this thing,we got the windows out found more rust, finished cleaning the sealer found more rust, started to cut out rust and weld in new metal, blowing holes in new metal.I give up so i went on a search for another welder my friend loaned me his this weekend a gas shilded mig, differance is night and day i welded most of the afternoon and only blew thru three times, we are back on track,Got all the rear patches made/installed mostly welded in finish them up this week then rear window area patches then the biggie the dredded cowl have no idea what i'm going to do there but i'll think of something. Photos forthcoming.

Thank's it's a lot of work so far it ain't gonna be perfect but most low buck projects aren't, if it was a superbee or R/T ect. we would be willing to go full tilt but as it is my son just wants a budget driver that he can go to checkers in and do a little street racing.[i didn't say that did i]

Update been working off and on recently and figured i would post the progress it ain't a lot but it is progress one trunk patch got a little fugly ground the metal too thin and keep burnin thru so it's good enough nuthin a little allmetal can't patch and once the sprayon bed liner is in can't tell rear window area is done rear quarter buckets areas done gotta do the trunk gutters yet but the cowl is the deciding factor to continue or scrap it.Moved on to the cowl the area i dredded to look at, cut out a large bit of rust have a patch fabbed up will be welding it up this week along with the driver door jamb area. If this area turns out without a hitch then we'll order the trunk gutters. It's a slow process but im makin some headway.

Have not been real active on here lately due to my job, playin with my cuda and workin on the charger we have completed the metal work on all panels and have moved to the fill work [muddin in] i have gotten one trunk gutter finished and ready for primer and the other is not far from done. We will continue on the trunk area and rear bumper area for the next week or so then move to the rear window frame area then drivers door jamb. We are shooting for color [Go Mango or Sublime Green] by october then it will go on hold. My son will have to save up for motor/trans parts and suspension parts, it's coming along slowly i figure i have roughly 250-300 hours in it since april of last year i can see some progress since it cam home. This is my photobucket link if your intrested in seeing the beast. http://s1138.photobucket.com/albums/n522/lou3500/charger%20project/

A life size model thats missing half the parts out of the box,it has been interesting and quite a learning experiance i have learned to fabricate/form sheetmetal, weld, use a paint gun. It's still a ways to go but i can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Well ya'll things have taken a slight unplanned turn,my son had to have his wisdom teeth removed [he's got insurance] but had a large copay that put the charger on hold [paint purchase] so to ease his finances i had listed the fiberglass fenders[extra] that came with the car. Well some guy has been intrested in them for several weeks and finally yesterday came to look at them,he asked if we had any other parts so we went in the shop to look and see if i could help him out. It seems they bought a 71 charger awhile back that is really rusted when they saw ours they were intrested in it they looked it over asked where we got the replacement sheet metal ect. They ended up making my son an offer and he accepted it so the Charger is going to a new home next weekend [if no problems arise]. Today my son and i were loading the parts into the car and he ask me if i was sad to see it go "yes i am but we done good while we had it" he then realized that when we got it it came on 2 trailers and 3 trucks and it's leaving on a rollback and a pickup thats progress.Plus i have been suffering with arthritis in my hands, knees, back for some time now recently it has become worse so it's probly a good thing he sold it i don't think i would hve been able to finish it in a timely manner just getting thru a week at work is hard enough! Don't know if i'll ever get my car done probly will have someone else do it we'll have to see.
