Well, got it off yesterday after we went to the fair. Cleaned it, sanded it, didnt smooth it out, just sanded it to roughen it up a little. Sprayed it with primer, then hit it again with sand paper, then laid a couple coats of Duplicolor Exact Match on it. Here is a sneak peek of how it sits off the truck...

Forgot to mention also, I changed my mind on color matching my current tails...they are going to be replaced with aftermarket ones...I have been a fan of the afterburner tails on the 3rd gens, and I found these on ebay...

I was gonna buy new tails tonight, but I think my truck needs some tint before tails, so, I bought tint tonight, getting my bull bar on April 2nd then these tails, the bezels will be color matched before they are installed though.

I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel here, recovering from the kids birthdays, Christmas and some unfortunate incidents that would not allow me much money at all to buy mods. So little by little I will be getting things now for the truck.

never rush things Adam, sometimes deals fall in our laps...when you rush things you spend more money cause you think you know what you want, then you find what you really wanted, your doing great with the truck, pc by pc, thats how all of us have to work, only a select few can just dump money hand over fist....

I'm digging the taillight's though man... I have contemplated going full LED tail's on my '98 but have been waiting to see one with em. I've never seen those before. Curious as to how there gonna' look on mizz Rubizilla. I may have to play copy cat if they look good.

okay, bumper cap is back on...it's not perfect, but for some reason this Duplicolor was a little harder to work with this time. Might have been the cap itself making it harder though...

I thought about going with some Recon LED tails, but for some reason I just dont care for LED's on second gens...much like the Halo headlights on ebay...I dont like the look of them on second gens either.

Yes sir, I will be colormatching the bezels on the new tails...I think the profile of those lights will make Rubys ass look better...

I've looked into getting some 3rd gen wheels...the ones like Daniel has on his...I would like to get away from the 16 inch wheel...I like chrome or polished aluminum though...those are the only finishes that will ride on this truck...

I'll take that as a compliment guys :D

I'm assuming the black and chrome are the same design, there's a piece of plastic on the lower, outside mounting point on the driver's side that you've got to cut/grind/break off for that side to sit flush against the fender. Took me a month or so to figure that out.
You ever removed the headlight assembly from your truck?

Thanks for the heads up bud..and no I have not removed them, ever.

There not hard at all to remove man. It took me about 30 minutes to figure it out then about 3 to pull the other one. Just holler at me if you have any questions about it. I'll do whatever I can from Texas lol

03-06-2011, 11:31 PM
LOL thanks dude...looks to be only 4 bolts and the socket out of the rear of the housing right?

txbass06
03-06-2011, 11:40 PM
IIRC, there's only three 10mm bolts holding the headlight in and a Phillips head screw holding the side marker in. Don't forget about the weather stripping on the inner side of the headlight closest to the radiator. That's held in with one plastic push pin and 2 more Phillips heads with 5/16" nuts on the back of them

cool thanks

No problem man. Like I said, it's not hard at all once you figure it out lol. What took the longest was trying to figure out how the headlight assembly came out after the bulbs and bolts were removed lol
