In one of my exhaust threads I mentioned that I was getting worse MPG's with the Flowmaster vs No Muffler. I have been tracking my fuel ups with Fuelly. Here's some of the results.. Sorry for the sloppiness.

Muffler Removed
January 1
15.3 MPG

January 6
Towed for roughly 200 miles.
14.7 MPG

January 9
16.2 MPG

January 15
Used Tow/Haul mode.
15.1 MPG

AirFilter Cleaned, Muffler Put Back On, PCM Reset
January 22
14.8 MPG

January 30
14.4 MPG

February 5
14.0 MPG

February 9
14.1 MPG

Muffler Removed Again, PCM Reset
February 12
14.5 MPG

February 21
15.2 MPG

March 3
15.6 MPG

Not too sure about yall but I see a trend.

I would also like to see this documented on a truck without a CAT and muffler.

Looks like the Flomaster in your case, deleting the muffler is in your best intrest in terms of economy.

I plan on going to magnaflows highflow cats this summer. I go out of state a couple times a year and dont want a ticket. I'll be doing the highflow cats with dual 14" magnaflows, I believe.

Yea I've been running with no muffler (had flowmaster 40) and been having an average increase in mpgs of about 0.4-0.6 mpgs, not much but I like the sound, I may go back to a glass pack, it cleans up the sound a bit and sounds real aggresive

I also had the Flowmaster 40, SI/DO.

You know I had gone from a cherry bomb glasspack to the Flowmaster and was actually dissapointed with the sound of the flowmaster, but happy with the performance though, I have never owned a magnaflow, I've heard great things about them!!

The glasspack should be less restricting than the Blowmaster.. I might just do dynomax bullets.

I'm thinking about running the bullets after I get a set of headers

That is similar to a glasspack isnt it? but much better?

Bullet has no packing, the glasspack has fiberglass packing.

The bullet only reduces sound by about 2db's. It's not supposed to change the tone at all.

Got a NEW muffler, got it for $30 it's supposed to just be a knock off flowmaster 40. But I needed something cheap until I could get my duals ran.

After muffler was installed.
4/2/11 234.9 14.3 (Breaking in?)
4/5/11 210.7 16.6
4/9/11 227.8 16.5 << Spent the last 3 days in Daytona

I always fill up when I get to the half tank mark or near it if I can. Now that I am back in town, I am sure ill go back to the 14-15 range. My overhead was right at 19 while in Daytona.

Back when I first got the truck I was getting right at 230 miles to the first half tank and that's my goal again.

I think I get about 12 or 13 city and 18 highway...fill up once a week with a half a tank for about 43 bucks

What size tank do you have? A half tank on my 2nd gen is 17 gallons and at the current fuel price it would cost me $63 to top off from half tank.
