Dang, Hate THIS ~ Cancer check up tomorrow!

I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow as the wife has to take me back to the Durham VA Hospital for my next cancer check up. IN November and December of the year BEFORE last I had to spend six weeks there for radiation treatments for prostate cancer. My first blood results AFTER were pretty good; then my six month check was still good ~ then my last check up my PSA levels were HIGH. Concerned I call the Urologist and he said: "Sometimes level will rise, however IF the next checkup shows this high or higher then MORE treatments will be necessary!" My year was up this PAST December but did NOT want to go during the holidays,so I have been really stalling. They sent me letters and went ahead and made this appointment for TOMORROW. They told ME, that I have to make this ONE~ NOW, I'll go up there, talk to the Urologist, get blood work done; he'll ask me how this past year was ~ He!!, I have no idea, you don't feel anything really, just get sick every few weeks from the radiation.... he won't be able to tell me more until the blood work is checked.... SO, I'll just come back home NOT knowing anything... the waiting will be the worse part!!!

Thank YOU so much everyone. We'll be heading out in a bit for the TWO hour trip up... all appointments are for this afternoon.

Honestly, getting kind of used to all of this ~ seem to spend more time at the VA hospital than home ~ NOT really~ but have been to Three different hospitals over the years for seven heart surgeries, then found out about having cancer two years ago which can ONLY be done at the Durham VA... so keep on keeping on....

Well, what a day this turned out to be..... got to the VA, blood work, then headed to see the Urologist. She Asked tons of questions and did some exams on me. She then told me the blood work will be back tomorrow and call me at home with the results ~ Fine, pretty much figured this all out Before getting there.

THEN... she says to Tee and I, I'm very concerned about Jim's breathing after listening to his chest. I do NOT want you to take him home yet... When you leave here I want you to take him to the emergency room to have his breathing checked out.

Met with the emergency room doctor, he sent me out for additional blood work, and EKG and chest xrays. When I got back he said I have ordered you an inhaler and new nitro pills. I will be taking all this information to our head emergency room doctor for a consult....

He came back and said "We are NOT sure IF you are having problems within your chest of possibly having more heart problems. We are also concerned your blood pressure is a bit high and with all the current medicines you are NOW taking for blood pressure, it should NOT be that high! We have loaded all this information into your medical records and want you to contact your primary health doctor in Salisbury and have him request Breathing Tests and a consult with the Salisbury heart specialist. Their information will be forwarded back to us and we will be handling any health problems here in Durham. We will be scheduling forth coming appointments for you here in Durham"

(Geesh, I thought this was a cancer checkup?)

Finally got back home at 9pm this evening and had to drive home in a huge thunderstorm.

I may be OLD and falling apart but I look GOOD in a MAGNUM ~LOL~

Just now, got the call from the Urologist and she said my PSA numbers for cancer have dropped from 1.46 to 1.12 which is GREAT news and scheduled my next appointment for August! However, she did REMIND me to get to our local VA for a heart test and a breathing test.

Needless to say, I'm feeling GREAT right NOW ~ maybe get out and do a little more moddin' to our latest Magnum CHANCE??? ~LOL~
